Ongoing MERC projects include:
  • Hosting the annual MERC Conference on the MetroWest Economy which includes a feature presentation and update on MetroWest economic conditions.

  • Publication of a series of articles in Economic Update, MERC's semiannual newsletter; MetroWest Business, the monthly newsletter of the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce; the Wave, the South Shore Chamber of Commerce; the United Update, the United Chamber of Commerce; and It's Your Business, of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. These articles analyze key economic indicators for the local business community.

  • Presentations of regional economic data to local business and community groups.

  • Participation in the quarterly Cost of Living Survey conducted by ACCRA the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER). Price data gathered by MERC is sent to ACCRA C2ER for inclusion in its national survey and publications,. and MERC also uses this information to track changes in the cost of living in MetroWest over time.

  • Reports on key regional issues such as wage trends, job churning, or labor force characteristics.

  • Creation and updating of regional economic data bases to support MERC research activities. These data bases include unemployment, labor force, employment, payroll, wages, housing, cost of living, municipal revenue, K-12 enrollment, and Census 2000 demographics.
